WEST TEXAS WATCHDOGS

Managing Editor, web designer, interviewer, and writer.

My professor, Michael Braga, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, is the creator of this technologically advanced news service for the panhandle to bring local counties news tailored to them. He has allowed me to take a key role in this news service. As Managing Editor, I upload news stories to the temporary website I created, created the logo, present our news service to investors for grants, and seek out opportunities to interview political figures. I am scheduled to interview Dustin Burrows, the Texas Speaker of the House and Lubbock Representative, to discuss legislation that could affect the Texas Panhandle.

West Texas Watchdogs will gather information and videos from all the school board meetings, city council meetings, and town and school budgets. This data will be processed using AI technology to identify the most critical facts our readers need to know. The 40 students in our Public Affairs class will then convert these insights into well-crafted news articles. Other news services are encouraged to utilize our articles at no cost. This cutting-edge technology serves the community in groundbreaking ways. Many counties and towns in West Texas currently lack local news coverage, and our service aims to address that gap. Additionally, we have plans to expand our reach into other regions and potentially throughout the entire state.
